Finding that perfect closing gift that’s both impressive and thoughtful, but not overly expensive, can be awfully tricky. It’s so important to get your new clients a meaningful gift that will have them talking about you for months to all their pals — but finding one can be a time-consuming headache.

Custom house portraits make for an ideal closing gift.

Whether your clients are buying their first home and can’t believe they finally get to live in a place they can call theirs, or whether your clients are downsizing from a home they’ve lived in for decades and have filled with memories and milestones, you know that a house isn’t just a house, it’s a home! And what better way to commemorate that than with a one-of-a-kind watercolour illustration?

If you'd like to commission a house portrait illustration, there are a few options to choose from. I use ink and watercolour on 140lb paper. I generally do two sizes:

• 5x7" - starts at $140 (+ tax)

• 8x10" - starts at $190 (+ tax)

If there are additions such as people, pets or cars, there is an additional charge per addition. (Please note, I do not illustrate condos.)

I also offer packages for multiple house portraits with discounts for bulk orders.

In order to get started, all I need is a clear photo of the house, or an address that has a good view on Google Maps (either work, both resources are even better). (Please consult the commission photo FAQ page to see what sort of photo is needed). Illustrations take about 3 weeks to do, depending on demand, but if you need it by a certain date just let me know and I can accommodate.

I ask for a 50% deposit* before I get started on the illustration -- once the deposit is secured, then I send you a pencil sketch so that you can check over the illustration and let me know if there's anything you want to adjust or add to the image**. That way, you're completely satisfied with the finished product. Once I get approval from you, I finish up inking and painting the piece.

Illustrations can be shipped internationally and are mailed in an acid-free plastic sleeve with a hard backing to protect from water damage and bending.
